Postpartum Peace of Mind

This appointment is designed especially for new mums following childbirth, offering a supportive opportunity to check in with your pelvic health and recovery. Your appointment will be with our experienced Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Debbie, and is ideally booked around 6–8 weeks postpartum, preferably after you’ve had your routine 8-week GP check-up.

Your appointment will cover:

A Pelvic Floor Check: We will evaluate the strength and function of your pelvic floor muscles, often including an internal examination (with your consent) to check for weakness, leaking, or pain.

An Abdominal Muscle Exam: Checks for a tummy gap, known as diastasis recti, to see how your stomach muscles are healing.

A Postural and Movement Screening: Looks at your overall posture, breathing, and functional movements (like bending or squatting) to identify imbalances or strain from carrying and feeding your baby.

and includes Symptom Screening: Checks for bladder, bowel, or sexual dysfunction, as well as discomfort from C-section or perineal scars.

We’re putting the finishing touches to our new Postpartum Peace of Mind service, designed to support women through their postnatal recovery.

Once you've completed the new customer form we will review it and contact you if we need to discuss anything ahead of your visit. We would appreciate it if you can return the New Client Form 48 hours ahead of any in person appointment.

We understand that the pelvic floor health questionnaire may contain personal information that you don't wish to provide electronically. 4. TREATMENT OR CONSULTATION & TRIAL DAY:

Emsella Treatments - When you start treatment, we will check nothing has changed since our last appointment and then the treatment will start. At the end of the treatment we will ensure the rest of your treatments are planned as required. For any questions about the treatment or what to wear or where to park please check our FAQs

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy - Post any consultation you will attend your Initial Appointment with Debbie our Physiotherapist. Your appointment is a relaxed, confidential space where you can talk openly about your body, symptoms and any concerns you may have — without embarrassment or judgement. We’ll start by discussing your medical history, lifestyle, current symptoms and what you would like help with. If relevant, we may also ask about pregnancy, birth, surgery, hormonal changes or other factors that could be affecting your pelvic health. If appropriate, we may assess your posture, breathing, movement, abdominal muscles and pelvic floor function. An internal examination will only be offered if it is clinically appropriate and you are comfortable with it. We’ll explain everything beforehand, answer any questions you have and ensure you remain in control throughout your appointment. At the end of your appointment, we’ll create a personalised treatment plan.
